Modular Gateway Interface (MGI)

When I first started working with MGI, the extent of my programming involved creating a window that came up with the words "Hello World" in it in the language of "C+" and some "Basic" in college that I've long since forgotten...

Since then, concepts such as variables, loops, conditionals, and switch statements have become familiar friends rather than something akin to magic and I can apply them to a wide range of applications.

MGI is a web server application that uses a tag based language much like html and a built in database to drive a virtually limitless range of applications. The color system on this site is driven by it, but normally I use it to do heavier lifting than that..

Anytime you see a form on the web, there is some sort of server software taking the information from that form and doing something with it. Before MGI, I was largely deploying sites on UNIX servers and would use "canned" scripts written in PERL to achieve these ends however I found these to be extremely limiting. What if I wanted to do more than send mail with the form? What if I wanted it to write to a database so I could use the information for other purposes?

After much research, I chose MGI. Why? The simple tag based language makes it easier to deploy than other conventions I looked at. While it's not designed for enterprise level sites, I'm not working with enterprise level sites either! The plain simple truth is, I can create what I need and have it work and I generally can do it for less than the other guys...

The sites I've done for Diversified Enterprises (for more see the client examples page) have done much to extend my capabilities in this area. When these folks say they need this to do this AND do this as well as do that IF this occurs ELSE do something else, well... I need to figure it out. :-)

Whether a simple mail form with required fields or one that writes to a database as well as sending an email to the company and an auto response to the site visitor, a poll, or a full blown e-commerce site, webkewl can produce it with MGI.
